adregem: (this is where you come in.)

Even if he were to ask, Roland is certain his answer is set in stone. It's the same when he spoke with Inigo, though they darted around that a little bit more. No matter. Roland doesn't quite hone in on the source of Tidus's mild discomfort, whether it's from words unspoken or something not quite right with his return to the void train.

Gibbs moves about, true to his nature mimicking the waves crashing against the shore, and for his part, Roland remains still to take each ebb and flow from all sides of the conversation. At the end of the day, he's relieved to see they're all safe; that he can stave off goodbye for one moment longer.

"Fair enough. My skill's not in the kitchen, as you know pretty well by now. I'll stay my lane and start with mopping and cleaning the bathrooms. Since I know some people won't do it...Heh."

And maybe Roland does read the room somewhat, watching Tidus up close, watching the little movements, the bounce of his feet, the way he can't quite stop moving some. It's normal, and it's not. It's unease, and it's relief all at once. Gibbs squeaking high and proud in his arms may be the sign that he's picking up on something, so he tries a more unconventional ice-breaker.

"...You can just drink straight from a coconut too. Did you know that? Come on. I can show you, since we have so many to spare."

An invitation he can deny of course, but Roland's sat for too long anyway, muddled in his own thoughts. The library offers no solace or answers, so he stands. Gibbs jumps and takes to his shoulder, little hands with fingers he can't see grabbing unto strands of hair for balance.
